The short answer: for NOIDS Herb Lab cleaning, unplug the cooker and let it cool. Rinse the Glass and the Filter Set with warm water, take the Filter Disc out of the Filter Funnel, and wash both in the dishwasher or by hand. Wipe the Main Body with a damp cloth.
Old oil left in the Filter Set turns stale and taints the next batch. A wet Glass stops the next cycle from starting. This guide covers NOIDS Herb Lab cleaning after every batch: what goes in the dishwasher, what to wash by hand, and the few things that should never touch it. It takes about five minutes.
| At a glance | |

What you need
- Warm water
- A non-abrasive washing-up liquid
- The wool Brush that comes with the Herb Lab
- A soft, damp cloth and a dry tea towel
How to clean the Herb Lab, step by step
- Unplug and cool. Always unplug the cooker before you clean the Main Body. Let the appliance and all its parts cool down first.
- Rinse. Rinse the Glass and the Filter Set with warm water to remove the residue.
- Take it apart. Take the Filter Disc out of the Filter Funnel before you wash anything.
- Brush. Use the wool Brush for the narrow parts of the Filter Set.
- Wash. Put the Glass and the Filter Set in the dishwasher, or wash them by hand with warm water and a non-abrasive washing-up liquid.
- Wipe. Wipe the Main Body with a damp cloth.
- Dry. Dry every part before the next use. The bottom of the Glass and the inner surface of the Main Body must be dry.

The Glass
The Glass is dishwasher safe. Rinse it first, then wash it like a normal glass. By hand, use warm water and a non-abrasive washing-up liquid. Before the next cycle, check that the bottom of the Glass is completely dry. If it is wet, the cooker gives a 10-second beep and will not start. Dry it and start the function again.
If the Glass is cracked, stop using it right away and contact NOIDS support for a replacement.
The Filter Set
The Filter Set is the part that needs the most care, because oil collects in its narrow parts. It is dishwasher safe.
- Take the Filter Disc out of the Filter Funnel before washing.
- Use the wool Brush to clean the narrow parts.
- Do not lay the pipe and the Glass Pipette flat in the dishwasher, the way you would other kitchen tools.
- Rinse with warm water first. Then wash with warm water and a non-abrasive washing-up liquid if you clean by hand.
The Dish Lid
The Dish Lid has a non-stick, food-grade silicone coating. Rinse it with warm water and wash it gently with a soft sponge. No scrapers and no metal sponges.
The Main Body
The Main Body holds the heating element and the Rotary Control. Always unplug the cooker first, and let it cool. Then wipe the outside and the inner surface with a damp cloth. Make sure the inner surface is dry before you place the Glass back in it.
Before the very first use
A new Herb Lab needs a quick clean too. Remove all stickers and labels. Then clean the outside and the inner surface of the cooker with a damp cloth. The user manual also describes one empty first run, which burns off any dust from production or transport. Some odour is normal during that first run.
What never to use
- Metal sponges or scrapers
- Chlorine, ammonia or bleach
- Abrasive cleaners of any kind
Get the last of the oil before you clean
Before you wash up, collect the oil still held in the plant material. Add warm water to the Glass until the plant material is under water. Shake gently, let it rest until the oil forms a clear layer on top, then draw it off with the Glass Pipette. Our guide to herbal oil infusions walks through a full batch, and the NOIDS Herb Lab page lists every part in the set.
If the cooker will not start after cleaning
| Sign | Cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| 10-second beep, no light | The bottom of the Glass is wet | Dry it, then restart the function |
| 10-second beep, light blinks | The Glass is not touching the probes | Press the Glass down, then restart |
| No beep, light blinks | The Glass is not properly covered | Cover it with the Dish Lid, then restart |
